What is Staff Advisory Council (SAC)?

On February 10, 2005, Dr. George C. Wright authorized the establishment of the first Prairie View A&M University Staff Advisory Council (SAC).

The Staff Advisory Council is an elected group of non-faculty employees who serve as representatives of the staff at PVAMU and act as a channel of communication between the staff and the University’s administration. The Council keeps the President and the administration advised of the needs and interests of the staff and serves as a communication linkage for informing the staff about relevant issues at PVAMU. The Council may make recommendations on specific institutional issues and on general grievance policies, but the Council does not act on individual grievance issues.

PVAMU eligible staff employees voted on representatives to serve on this Council from the following job classification categories.

(a) Professional Non-Managerial;

(b) Secretarial/ Clerical;

(c) Technical/Paraprofessional;

(d) Skilled Crafts; and

(e) Service/Maintenance.

Elections were held and completed by March 31, 2004, ballots were counted, and on April 14, 2005 thirty staff employees named here within were invited for a working luncheon and the “inaugural” meeting scheduled for May 14, 2005, where Dr. George Wright, Mr. Dan Williams and Mr. Albert Gee distributed important materials and discussed the role, scope, and purpose of the Staff Advisory Council.
