Friday, October 02, 2009
HOUSTON--Prairie View A & M University Nursing faculty members Huberta Corazon “Bette” Thiam Cozart and Annette C. McClinton were recognized by Good Samaritan Foundation (GSF) during the foundation’s fifth annual Excellence in Nursing Awards Luncheon. The program honored nurses who demonstrate a passion for the nursing profession, Sept.17, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel.
Good Samaritan Foundation believes that rewarding and recognizing excellent nurses is a key component in retaining quality, experienced professionals, while also addressing the nurse workforce shortage in Texas. The Excellence in Nursing Awards Luncheon encourages the greater Houston community to celebrate and recognize individual nurses who excel in their chosen fields and who are actively working in the nursing profession.
One hundred and twenty five Houston-area practicing registered nurses were nominated by their peers for exemplifying excellence in teaching, mentoring, leadership and service and each were recognized as a Bronze Medal Nominee. A distinguished Awards Selection Committee chaired by Dr. Ann Scanlon McGinity, Senior Vice President of Operations and Chief Nursing Executive of The Methodist Hospital, selected five Gold Award Winners and five Silver Medalists from the nominees in five categories.
Since the inception of GSF, Prairie View A&M University’s Nursing faculty and students have been awarded continuous medals and scholarships from GSF.
